Odds and Ends

Lots of little things to update on.

Finally getting around to raiding Kyle’s camera, we get to see what that skull I secretly made for his scout troop looked like in the dusty dirt they found it.

Pretty pleased it even fooled Kyle into thinking it was real.

Alec’s been bugging me to see Devil’s slide ever since he had a school report on Morgan County. So, when we were invited to go fishing near it, we had to stop.

Speaking of the fishing.

Got to see lots of deer on the way home too.

Kyle and Talia helped get the rest of this year’s tombstones etched. My hands hurt just thinking of all that painting…

Meanwhile, the pumpkin patch is consuming the scarecrow.

Redesign of the chiller portion on Trevor.

Have a big machine on order, will do a full on ice in the chest test once it arrives.

Messing around wondering what I could make out of some corn husks.

A very trying adventure attempting to find/buy/resorting to MAKE Talia’s Ruby Gloom backpack this year left me with a bunch of leftover transfers, so Tshirt time…

And since I was doing THAT, they all have been wanting some of “the pumpkin” shirts, so I printed off some of those as well.

Chimera, Jim, and Repo.

Been a while since an update.

My wife and I headed out to what it turning into an annual tradition on her birthday, the Repo shadowcast. It took me a few days to recover from that, and a few more to edit the pictures, since I was shooting in RAW.

The show was better this year, and the crowd was a whole lot better this year as well. Very fun time.

And, while recovering, with rain pouring down last weekend, I started thinking “why not make a whole torso in Jim style”…

Yes, it is as time consuming as it looks. But, we’ve started on the idea.

Then, with weather finally clearing this week, able to get some swimming in, I even got a little bit of work done on the Chimera.

For the second time, I made myself jump as the car headlights hit the thing while locking up last night.

It’s looking like a THING more than just a frame…

It’s what’s for dinner.

A neighbor lost a fence to weather, and I’ve been putting the remnants to good use.

Poor Fred.

And, the Tzompantli are making a more…rustic…appearance this year.

Talia is getting in the spirit as well, with a pirate hat.

“cool pirate boat” (she’s a ‘pirate sword princess’ this year)

And a “scary monster for daddy”

Meanwhile, I have a host of scarecrows waiting to be stuffed in the house, and a slew of emt conduit that’s been bent beyond recognition laying around. But, we’ll get more on those things later.

Demons, ‘Crows and Skulls.

Another busy weekend wrapping up.

First up, just an example of my chalk. Unassuming by normal light.

It really comes to life in the black light.

Next, the Demons got a quick wash to prepare them for life under black light.

And I managed to discover a means to paint my skulls that is invisible in normal light. (ignore the blue and greenish tinged ones on the far right, done before I created the new paint)

And, what’s even better is it brings out a range of colors under black light. From white to gray to tans.

Finally, tired of black light work, I started work on the new scarecrows for the year.

More will follow if the technique proves sound.

Also working on Kyle’s mask…hoping he can blend in with said scarecrows this year…
